The USAAF Pilot Training Manual for the L-5 (AAF Manual No. 50-18) states:

"Your L-5 airplane is the fastest, most easily maintained, and most economical of the
liaison service. It has a cruising radius of 150 miles at an airspeed of 110 mph. It lands
at 50 mph. It can clear a 50-foot obstacle after a 650 foot takeoff run."

It is interesting to note that during the 1947 light aircraft evaluations held by the Army
at Fort Bragg , the 165hp Stinson 108 Voyager actually outperformed the L-5 in most
tests due to its higher horsepower-to-weight ratio
.
